Case Study: NJ PIP Program
In addition to our work with NGOs such as the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA), the most notable example of Forthright's ability to design and administer large volume claims processing is New Jersey's No-Fault Insurance Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Program. Forthright administers the NJ program on behalf of the National Arbitration Forum (FORUM).  

In 1998, as part of the Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act, the state of New Jersey began requiring that all parties with PIP disputes be given the option of using arbitration rather than going to court. After working with another provider for several years, the state switched to the FORUM.

As part of the FORUM, Forthright initiated online filing, calendaring formal settlement weeks, and case management services. At the same time, it reduced user fees substantially. The PIP filing process was simplified and made more attractive to the attorneys who primarily use it. And by keeping these cases out of court, the State of New Jersey is reducing legal expenses for businesses and lowering the cost of auto insurance and healthcare for its citizens.
